Shoulder to shoulder, A Tender Brother Limo shows a close portrait of American masculinity and male relationships largely made during the experience of bachelor parties in the lyrical documentary photographic tradition. Among the debauchery of men participating in bachelor parties - a-rite-of-passage celebrating a man’s journey to marriage - there is intimacy, sensuality and an examination of the male bond. The photographs span a 14-year period beginning in 2005 during first hand experiences largely on 35mm black-and-white film often with disposable or point and shoot cameras.The work is a ticket into a slice of the very private man-osphere. It’s a mirror to reflect on the dynamics of male teachings, relationships and growth. What do those traditional male narratives mean? What does it mean to be a good man today?
